We have also had success with running dvsource on some Soekris board.
Only tested net5501 so far, but net45xx and net48xx is up for testing
this weekend.
We are using this 7.25 EUR dual voltage Firewire PCI card:

Until we find a better solution we are using a combination of Soekris
boxes and laptops running a netbooted Debian Live-based net boot image.
As I see it the main problem with building a custom low cost board for
this is that we need to have a PCI bus, since we need to get 30 Mbps
across. Therefore it might be easier just to refurbish some old hardware
that we can get for free.
