Mixing formats is something that should be avoided if possible. Since
Mexico is NTSC the local equipment will be NTSC and anything we borrow
from locals will be NTSC. OTOH, I'm not certain I can get the time off
for Debconf this year so I can't say my cameras will be there right now.
If someone else in Houston/Austin/San Antonio is definitely attending I
can send my equipment with them if they're willing to carry it.
I wrote a script to determine whether a particular video was NTSC or PAL
for the theora encoding but it's been a while since I've looked at that
stuff.

Normalizing all of the audio prior to compression would be a nice
improvement. I think the biggest problems with audio were cases where
the audio was missing or the master volume level was adjusted up/down
repeatedly over the course of a talk. Any tweaking that requires
Cinelerra takes lots of time.
Chopping videos at the beginning and end could be minimized. If the
moderator gave a signal to start the talk, waited 3 seconds and then
began, we wouldn't need to crop the front. On the tail end, stop the
recording as the applause dies down. You'd have to convince tolimar to
limit his introduction to "Here's Blah with a talk entitled Blah"
though. :)
And the DVDs are spectacular. I hope copies of the 2005 DVDs will be
sold at Debconf. What more can be done to help/improve the production
of DVDs?
