Re: TMSC Hsinchu tours

You are right about the manga part but most of them is in Taipei, which is one hour away from Hsinchu.

Otaku tour could be one of the nice considerations.

While it is pretty early there are also quite a few other attractions
that may catch people's attention/curiosity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerchip_Semiconductor -

Note - Powerchip has three fabrication lines, of which handle 300 mm
silicon wafers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DelSolar - they work on solar systems
and modules as well as photovoltaic systems as well.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaTek - one of the big names on the ARM scene.

Last but not the least -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Microelectronics_Corporation
which I believe have at least 8 foundries according to the wiki page.

Apart from that Taiwan seems to have lot of cultural as well as
touristy places to visit as well, tripadvisor seems to have a ton of
them.

I think I have shared and if memory serves right, there are sprawling
electronic malls which have the most obscure items from manga comics,
game consoles, catridges to many titles which for one reason or the
other didn't make mainstream.

Perhaps even those could be an option for the day tour.  It is
possible that some people may like this as well.
