LinuxTag is not happening in 2015 though, so people will probably
have an interest.

Anyway, the important point is that it's really just DebConf, so
even if noone shows up, it won't really impact the conference.

About having the "important" events then:

I see your concerns. However, I think there are more "important"
events than we would reasonably schedule on the open weekend.

However, there is also the idea of scheduling more during the
beginning of DebConf and less towards the end to leave more room for
people to cooperate, discuss ideas they picked up, or organise
ad-hoc events. In this light, it makes sense to have talks like the
DPL and release team presentations earlier, don't you think?

This is really a talks committee/scheduling question, and we already
had ideas into this direction, though I don't think I'd want to
make this a separate event confined to a separate room away from the
rest of the conference.

I think we should be calling ourselves the "Debian Conference"
anyway… ;)

That is the message, right. We called it "Open Weekend". We can make
sure to address "users" more during our PR, and also note in the
call-for-papers that we'll have such a track.
