Dear DC-team, DebConf14 is just around the corner and undoubtedly, a central topic will be the future of DebConf governance and organisation. To prevent what (did not) happen last year (post-conference coma and nothing moving until we were all too busy again with DC14), I would like to invite you to come together two times at DC14, once at the start of the conference to pick up the pieces and all get on the same page, and once at the end of the conference to formulate a concrete plan for next steps. The location of these sessions will be announced short-term, but I wanted to let you know the times at this point already, so that you can mark your calendars accordingly: 1. Picking up the pieces — Where do we stand and what do we want? Sunday 24 Aug, 10:00 to 12:00, followed by lunch. 2. Tying up the ends — where do we go from here? Saturday, 30 Aug, 10:00 to 12:00, followed by lunch. The goal for these sessions is not to solve the problems. The point is to put us all on the same page and enable a concerted effort to implementing change after DebConf14. I (and others) believe we should make use of our time at DebConf to discuss the issues at hand, even though it means that some important people will not be there. After all, we organise DebConf *because* in-person meetings are vastly superior over remote communication, especially when the issues are complex and the solution not clear. It would be great to see you there. Please take a moment and tick the boxes on https://dudle.inf.tu-dresden.de/dc14-orga-discussions/ As said, location will be announced when I get an idea of how many will attend and I confirm these slots. If you won't be at DC14, but you have thoughts and opinions, even feelings or ideas, consider writing in beforehand, to the list, or to someone you know will be present and can make your voice heard. Also, to preclude any misunderstandings: I am not organising these sessions to push my governance proposal. The reason for my initiative is that noone else is doing it (that I know of) and I am not the only one to think that we need to get our stuff together.
