I think you have misunderstood my comments

All budgets seem to assume 40k or 50k CHF from professional fees

If these people don't come (and consequently don't pay anything), then
that part of the budget fails completely.  So if nobody really wants
`listen' to these people at all, please delete professional fee income
from the budget forecasts, and then the DebConf is untainted by their money.

Currently, it is proposed that these people pay 600 CHF each, half of
that pays the marginal cost of their meals/accommodation, so the rest is
subsidising somebody else to attend too.

I never said we should make a DebConf "just for the rich", I'm just
suggesting that we need to take a balanced approach and listen to
different groups.

The current approach seems to be 2 or 3 locals won't come if it's not Le
Camp, but if it is Le Camp, then maybe 100 people less are sponsored
(according to Richard's calculations yesterday) and less people pay the
professional fee (based on feedback from various people on the list).
