Hi, I have created a spreadsheet now, based on the numbers Alexander put in http://wiki.debian.org/DebConf7/VenueComparisonPrices - the version last edited at 2006-07-09 20:02:35 by AlexanderSchmehl. With one change, the food prices in Edinburgh: according to the wiki-page it's 4.5-6e. According to #debconf-edinburgh it's 4.5e now (with the current offer) for one meal at Teviot, so 9e per day. Or 22e for two meals at ECA. (BTW, I have not thought about how to keep the wiki and this spreadsheet in sync...) The spreadsheet allow everyone to play with the numbers, which largely consist of estimates, so playing with them is useful to get a feel for the costs. The Edinburgh lower estimate calculation is the one with the Teviot and cheaper food, the higher estimate is the one with the ECA and less cheap food. Even though I dont really believe it to be this little, I have assumed a average flight costs difference of 150e in this calculation. But hey, it's a spreadsheet, you can change it and see for yourself. (And obviously this also effects the prices for non-sponsored people which are not included in this view.) The same goes for the costs of renting ECA or Teviot. These costs might be higher for longer openening hours. (Also those numbers in the spreadsheet are euro-based, so won't change if you change the euro/GBP exchange rate.) The numbers for Oaxtepec and Helsinki are not completly accurate as well. Oh, and you need OpenOffice.org2... ping me if you dont have it and want it converted to OOo1. Last and not least, I haven't put this in SVN so far... and money isn't everything. It means a lot, but (as this calculation shows a little) we're also flexible how we spend it. regards, Holger P.S.: btw, I don't volunteer to do the budget in future ;-) But I do volunteer to update this if either team comes up with new numbers.
