Re: debian/watch version 5

Yadd:
[...]

Hi,

I just finished new manpages so MR is ready.
Templates engine will be in separate MR when the Version-5 format will be accepted

Other incoming improvement:
- rename some configuration parameters (with alias to the previous
   value). Example "date" => 'Git-Date"

I think we could release it in devscripts/experimental right now, and see if everything is OK (and test also "uscan --update-watchfile to update packages).
Then after Trixie, release it in unstable.

Cheers,
Xavier

Hi,

I would be happy to support the deb822 version of the watch file in `debputy` (editor support such as completion + hover docs and diagnostics). I think it would greatly aid users migrating that they can get tool assistance from the get go.

For that, I would need to know which fields are available, how they relate (like "`Author` is only applicable with `Template: [X|Y|Z]`" or "Template is required", etc.), and a bit of documentation for the fields.

A file like https://salsa.debian.org/debian/debputy/-/blob/main/src/debputy/lsp/data/deb822_data/debian_tests_control_reference_data.yaml?ref_type=heads would be ideal for the fields + documentation but not necessary.

Best regards,
Niels
