Re: [staff] Debian Install workshop in Brest

So I would do that (writing the text in french) tomorrow - or today, depending on when you read this - and I would send you what I have written (translated in english), before sending the mail. I would send the mail to at least XR and FFF, however we should still check out if there is some local newspaper - I can have a look at it tomorrow, would that be okay for you?

Also, I would be interested in joining and helping people set up and installing their systems. I have installed debian an insane amount of times myself in a lot of different ways. I would also be happy to talk to people and giving them some tipps about alternative software :) or just generally explaining them what they should expect (or not) from Linux, depending what they use their laptops for.

Oh, I would be up writing that. I think, that it does make sense to advertise the local Ext. Rebellion and FFF groups, even if I am not sure how active they are.

I've also opened [an issue][0] to track the progress on how we advertise
the event.

However, both platforms cater to people who are more likely than average
to be running Linux systems already (or are able to install it
themselves if need be). The bigger mass of people who are affected by
Windows 10 being sunset probably won't come across these websites. Which
is why I like Santiago's idea of reaching out to local media - maybe
there is a section where they advertise local events? Could a French
speaker volunteer to do that?

Any takers?

Another option would be to get in touch
with organizations which focus on sustainability whose members might be
interested in our workshop. Do any with local chapters in Brest come to
mind?

I did some research and it looks like there are local groups of
Extinction Rebellion[0] and Youth for Climate[1] (the French version of
Fridays for Future, apparently) in Brest. I'd be happy to reach out to
them. Do you think that makes sense (in English)?
