So what is the recommended way to get a ticket and how much will it cost (in
case I need to have change on the bus)?

The different solutions:

  1. Buy a ticket by sending a SMS, send the text "Bibus1h" to the phone number 93400 when you enter in the bus

That works only with french mobile network operators.
  1. Buy a ticket with cash to the bus driver
  2. Buy tickets to ticket selling machine on each tramway stations (english language available).
  3. Buy tickets to the Bibus physical shop

A ticket is valid for 1 hour and costs 1€70. The physical tickets should be inserted inside the checking box located in the bus/tramway.

We can also buy a 10-travel ticket (14€40), month-ticket (42€), one-day-ticket (4€50) ...

As stated by Benjamin, buy only one ticket.

We both failed to mention the ios/android app "bibus" which allows one to buy a ticket,
and then you validate it when entering the bus (show your virtual ticket to the driver if you don't find how).
