CHEESE!
Dear
debianites,
Cheese
is coming.
I
am no cheesemaster, maybe a wine princess, but I'm here to
remind you : don't forget your cheese!
Cheese
is good for you, cheese is magical fat food (not to be confused
with fast food, yuck!) as the frenchs says : « le
gras c'est la vie »
The
first C&W was improvised in Helsinki during DebConf 5, in
the so-called "French" room.
Cheese
and Wine parties are now a tradition for Debconf. The event is
very simple: bring good stuff from your country, preferably
cheese, wine and/or any other good stuff that can be drunk or
eaten. Even if you don't bring anything, feel free to
participate: our priorities are our users and free cheese. Vegan
cheese is welcome.
Brest
is well-known
for its milk ;-) so this cheese and wine, _the first one in
France, can you imagine ? _ have to be epic!
Please
"register" your cheese on the wiki page so that we can properly
label
it the day of the C&W party. We need cheese names and
country of

Logistics
You
can drop your stuff off at the Front Desk a bit before the
party.
Or
hand it directly to
C&W team volunteer before noon on party day (TBD — probably
July 15th, we'll confirm during DebConf week).
Don't forget to list it on the wiki for labeling!
But
Wait – Can I Bring This Into France?
Good
question! Customs can be picky.
✅ OK
to bring:
–
Packaged snacks, sweets, candy, drinks
(non-alcoholic),
bread, non-meat stuff.
❌ Not
OK to bring:
–
Fresh fruit, raw veggies, meat, or unpasteurized
dairy
(sadly, that means some cheeses too 😢)
To be
safe, check before you fly:
French Customs Guide (PDF)
Animal-Origin Products Rules
EU
Travel Rules
TL;DR:
No meat, no unpasteurized cheese, no fresh stuff. But snacks?
Heck
yes. And if customs eats your cheese — hey, pick up something
local
instead!
Can't
Bring Anything? No Problem!
You
don't have to bring food to enjoy the party — we're just happy
you're
coming.
See
you (and your snacks) soon!

Cheese & Wine Team
