I don't know if it's that relevant to this thread, but I heard of
http://komoot.de/ on friday for the first time and I feel like I'm
toying with it for the rest of the weekend ;) It uses OpenStreeMap data
plus apperently a huge set of POIs and can suggest bicycle, mountain
bike, race bike etc. tours. Also with a height profile.

It seems like it's available only in German, but it's not limited to
Germany! Quick guide for those who don't speak German: Go to the web
site, click "Tourenvorschläge" (tour suggestions), type "vaumarcus" and
press "Tour planen" (plan tour).
