[Debconf-discuss] IPv6-rDNS broken (IN NS invalid)

Hi!

This mail probably needs to be forwarded to the local DNS admin. It's
about IPv6 DNS in the Hacklab or DC10 in general, so if you're not
concerned, there's no need to read on. ;)

Ok, so we get IPv6. Whenever I try to connect to my machines (all with
AAAA records), it takes ages. Wireshark shows a decent TCP handshake,
but it then pauses for approximately 8s.

I think it's the broken reverse-DNS configuration. If you dig +trace for
the responsible NS, the last answer is

4.0.9.0.8.6.4.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa. 86400 IN NS curta.cc.columbia.edu.
;; Received 125 bytes from 199.109.40.14#53(ns1.nysernet.org) in 107 ms

However, curta.cc.columbia.edu is NXDOMAIN:

adi@hex:~$ host curta.cc.columbia.edu
Host curta.cc.columbia.edu not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

Someone needs to provide a valid DNS delegation or set a CNAME for curta
to point to the real DNS.

HTH & TIA
