Given that we can't work 24/7, and must have *some* relaxation periods
as well, having something a watch is probably a good idea. MPFC is
fairly universally liked by geeks, though their are factions that are
not quite such fans as most. (I'm not.) But that's all right, everyone
watching the same stuff from a big screen would count as a public
performance and require paying copyright holders. That's why I'm not
pointing out my movie list on the web and offer to bring movies for
every evening in the hope that someone brings a projector and screen.
Also, coming to Finland just to watch movies is a bit silly, when you
could hang out with other Debian people and learn to know people, or
learn to know them better.
On the other hand, if you get a legal copy (say, the original DVD),
there's nothing illegal or immoral about making a copy, in Finland. We
pay "cassette tax" for empty CDs and DVDs, after all.
