=== We're up and running === Hello and welcome to day 2 of DebCamp. We're super happy to see many people arrive, and go straight to hacking and having conversations with friends, old and new. In these announcement mails, we will say "venue" to refer to the building containing the talk rooms and hacklabs, and "accommodation" to refer to both the on-campus dormitories and the off-campus campsite. === Volunteering === DebConf is entirely volunteer-run, and we need your help to make it happen. Please sign up for volunteer shifts [0] to help out the event. There are a lot of things to sign up for, and there will be even more once the main conference starts. We have extra swag for volunteers. [0]: https://debconf25.debconf.org/volunteers === RAK (weekdays lunch venue) information === When returning your tray, please put the cutlery in the designated hole. Do not leave it on your tray. We remind you that the agreed quantity for DebConf meals is: - either 1 main course and 2 small plates - or 5 small plates Anything else (e.g. drinks) will have to be paid extra. Three slices of bread are also included. === Water taps === Many toilets have convenient water taps which unfortunately have NON DRINKABLE water. The tap will be designated with a red "EAU NON POTABLE" sign. This is reclaimed rain water and is not safe for consumption, only for washing. Please try not to use the cold water fountain of the Centre-Vie to fill boiling vessels (only water bottles and cups), instead use the designated drinking water tap in the men's toilet of D02-105 (down the hall past the amphitheaters). === Coffee lab === The coffee lab is now in existence. It's in the Centre-Vie, to the right of where we are serving food. If you brought any exciting coffee equipment, please bring it and share it with others. https://lists.debian.org/debconf-discuss/2025/07/msg00074.html Be mindful of power usage, please don't plug multiple water-heaters into a single multi-plug. === DebConf25 WiFi: no IPv6 === If you find yourself getting disconnected from the WiFi a minute after connecting to the DebConf25 WiFi network, try disabling IPv6. The university doesn't have any IPv6 connectivity for us, and the Cisco AP controller is blocking reused ULA addresses. This seems to be triggred by some users with privacy extensions enabled. Also, DNS resolution may give your machine IPv6 addresses, while they cannot be reached. If you feel that reaching INET is slow, again, try disabling IPv6. === Campsite accommodation bug squashing === Once you have been issued your campsite key by the front desk, the campsite staff are able to directly help DebConf attendees for any campsite-related problem. They have a list of attendees who are staying at the campsite. They speak English, and are very nice and helpful people. -- Nicolas Dandrimont on behalf of the DebConf25 team!
