Dear DebConf24 attendees, === Social space available === In addition to the hack lab, we now also have a social space available. It's located on the 4th floor of the Mirae building, in front of the room in which meals are served. The social space also contains the bar, where alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available, as well as some snacks. There is tea (now) and coffee (soon) available in the social space. === Day Trip sign-up === Since this year's conference day trip options require payment in advance, we are handling signup and payment via the registration system. You can see the day trip options at https://debconf24.debconf.org/daytrip/ You will need to pay for these day trip options, by credit card (preferred) or at the front desk. It will be possible to sign up and pay until Sunday evening. Children will be going for free on day trips. Please talk to the front desk to avoid billing for minors. Travel insurance is available for people wishing to apply for it during their day trips, the insurance covers medical expenses during the trip, the insurance covers Hospitalisation, Accidental Death, Non-Covered Treatment Due to Accidents, Death or Disability due to illness, Treatments for physical therapy, extra-corporeal shock wave therapy, and pro-liferative therapy, Treatment for third party injuries or property damage, Loss or damage to personal belongings, and Food poisoning. Details regarding exceptions, and cost coverage can be found on the Travel Insurance Policy page on DebConf24 website <https://debconf24.debconf.org/about/day-trip-travel-insurance/> If a trip attendee has no international insurance, or any other healthcare plans that may cover them in as mentioned cases, they may be forced to have to pay the necessary costs out of their pocket, the insurance is opt in, and can be avoided, but should be considered within the context of the benefits provided for the individual. === Volunteering opportunities === You can now sign up to volunteer at DebConf24. Volunteers get volunteer shirts, and meal tickets if they don't have one. Tasks currently available include: Front Desk: You will help the Front desk team in the registration process and preparing swag. If you haven't done this task at DebConf before, talk to Front desk staff before signing up. Food Hero: Help attendees to get fed. Arrive at the start of the meal, and check that things are labeled. Monitor the meal service. Get the caterers to re-stock food and cutlery, as necessary. Guide attendees to clean up after themselves (food only, in the round trash bin). In addition to the above tasks, we are now recruiting Talkmeisters, people who announce the talks and moderate the Q&A sessions. If you have very strong English skills, and are interested in joining us, please indicate your interest at Front Desk. The video team will need volunteers to help stream and record the event. The video team will train attendees to do this work, expect future announcements with details of training. More volunteering opportunities will arise over the course of the conference. You will be able to sign up for shifts at https://debconf24.debconf.org/volunteers/ === Shoes in Accommodations === Please remove your shoes within your dorm room within the area between the step up for the room and the door, failure to do so can cause trouble with the dorm authorities. Best regards, The DebConf Team
