Greetings from the DebCamp setup day! We strongly suggest printing this one-page summary before you travel to DebConf: http://media.debconf.org/dc7/arrival.pdf As well as having a map and information on travel options from the airport, the PDF also has address and contact information. One DebConf attendee has already had problems at the UK border because he wasn't able to answer the immigration officers' questions about his destination. Besides your normal clothes etc. we suggest you bring: * your passport (for immigration and keysigning) * an adaptor for UK electrical sockets from your country's system, and perhaps a multi-way adaptor in addition * a couple of sweaters * if you are staying in one of the hostels, a towel. If you have not already, please fill in your expected arrival time at https://penta.debconf.org/submission/dc7/person -- especially if you plan to arrive after 22.00 BST, as special arrangements may need to be made for you. For more detailed instructions on getting to Teviot, see: https://debconf7.debconf.org/wiki/Arrival The main DebConf contact number is +44 131 5168575. Information for those in the DebConf hostel block booking ========================================================= If you arrive in Edinburgh during the daytime please go to Teviot to register and to confirm which hostel/room you will be staying in (this may change from the online draft). During the main DebConf week a late-night reception will be running at the night-time venue across the street. If you arrive late at night during DebCamp, please contact us in advance. If you are staying in the hostel block booking, but are not sponsored, you will need to pay for your room when you arrive at DebConf. The price is 12 pounds per night. There is a cash machine (ATM) inside Teviot, so you don't need to carry the money with you as long as you have a debit/credit card. You will have 24-hour access to your hostel room, but please try to be considerate to the other guests and your fellow attendees. Cowgate Tourist Hostel ====================== Check-in is between 11.00 and 22.30. If you arrive before 11.00, you will have to wait around in Teviot for a while. If you plan to arrive later than 22.30, please tell accommodation@debconf.org so we can make special arrangements. The hostel will provide bed linen (so you do not need to bring sheets/a sleeping bag). Towels can be hired for 1 pound, or bring your own. You need to bring your own toiletries, for example soap and a toothbrush. You need to check out by 10.00 on the morning of your departure. Budget Backpackers ================== Check-in is after 12.00 noon. You will need to pay a 2 pound deposit to get a room key (returned when you check out and give back the key). The hostel will provide bed linen (so do not need to bring sheets/a sleeping bag). Towels can be hired for 50 pence a day plus a 2 pound deposit, or bring your own. You need to bring your own toiletries, for example soap and a toothbrush. You need to check out before 10.00 on the morning of departure. We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh soon. -- bye Joerg Wie gesagt, mein /proc/kcore ist 536MB gross und ich würde meinen Rechner gern davon befreien. Ein rm -f schlägt fehl! Ein Reboot hat auch nix geholfen. -- <uza89.12913$y71.291154@news.chello.at>
