Well, at least that did not change.

I made own tests with DVD+R meanwhile.

Track #1 in closed single-session and
all tracks in appendable multi-session
media are stated "invisible".
Closed ones written by growisofs and by
cdrskin. Appendable one with cdrskin.
Regrettably the last track contains no
mountable image. So i cannot test that.

All in all, the "invisible" state seems
not to be so exotic or ill as i first
thought.

What kind of drive is on strike in OSX ?
Is it the same hardware as with Linux ?
If not: can the OSX drive burn DVD ?

If you are willing to risk to lose the
problematic DVD+R media completely then it
would be interesting to learn whether

  growisofs -M /dev/sr0=/dev/zero

makes the DVD+R mountable on the OSX system.

Have a nice day :)
