It is likely to be a hardware issue. I presume that you have tried 
rebooting the machine, in case your burner got an error which left it in 
some odd state. That's a real "power off" boot, 15 sec or more of power off.

If this is newly installed hardware, this may just be "infant mortality" 
on the hardware, or reseating the cables may provide information. That's 
unlikely, but inexpensive.

If this is newly upgraded firmware, try going back (if you can) or check 
the vendor site for a newer version.
