Today, I happily announce new features and the release of the DVD-code into the OpenSource. After long discussions with various people on OpenSource Licenses and their effects on interproject usage and the effect on the authors themselves, I contacted the authors of included parts in this software suite and got, in most cases their support and grant on selecting the CDDL as the new license. Altough this took some time, it was worth reading the different OpenSource licenses completly with some support of people working in that field.

Now I know why it took Sun so much time to offer OpenSolaris under an OpenSource license...if you take a license change seriously, it is
       a real hard job.

This is great, something we have all been wanting. When you are ready to start the next major push on this software I hope you will post a request for comments, since you have asked not to be given small or even trivial fixes and improvements at the moment.

I seem to have spoken too soon, when I tried it using a normal device name as supported by other DVD burners...

gaimboi:root> ./cdrecord/OBJ/i686-linux-cc/cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc -prcap
Cdrecord-ProDVD-Clone 2.01.01a09 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2006 Jörg Schilling
scsidev: '/dev/hdc'
devname: '/dev/hdc'
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
Warning: Open by 'devname' is unintentional and not supported.
./cdrecord/OBJ/i686-linux-cc/cdrecord: Input/output error. Cannot set SG_SET_TIMEOUT.
gaimboi:root>

I see devname still isn't supported.
