I've ran into problems burning DVD with growisofs. As a summary : * growisofs DVD+R : works but at 0.5X (instead of 16X)
0.5x is so pathological that it makes me believe that it's underlying hardware communication problem, such as no DMA, wrong IDE cabling, etc. Do examine your hardware configuration...
* growisofs DVD+RW : fail with message ---:-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=5h/ASC=30h/ACQ=05h]: Wrong medium type :-( media is not formatted or unsupported. :-( write failed: Wrong medium type
Most commonly this means that particular media brand is not supported by your firmware. As already was suggested do try another media brand. There is also remote possibility that it's blank media and growisofs failed to recognize it as such, because of firmware glitch. But as you failed to provide dvd+rw-mediainfo output, it's no point to speculate if dvd+rw-format would help;-) A.
