Re: growisofs will not write at 8x with NEC 3540A
If I try using cdrecord i get the no DVD-R support error:

Last chance to quit, starting real write 8 seconds.Alarm clock
then eventually... cdrecord-ProDVD: faio_wait_on_buffer for writer timed out.
