growisofs error with DVD+R (write failed: Input/output error)

Hello,

growisofs will burn a DVD+R once after booting a fresh Linux-2.4.26.

So the first time I call growisofs, everything works fine. I remove
the burned disk and insert an new disk (Verbatim).

Then The second time I get an error.

dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/scd0

Then the DVD-R is unusable.

There is apparently some device status that is not reset properly after
the first burn!

Just for your information. I have no clue.
I will eventually upgrade the kernel and see if that problem
gets solved that way.

growisofs -version
* growisofs by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 5.21,
  front-ending to mkisofs: mkisofs 2.01.01a03 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)

mkisofs -version
mkisofs 2.01.01a03 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)

The problem recurs. I have lost three DVD+R's that way.

Thank you,

Richard Lemieux
