cd duplicate problem

hi all i have two cd-drives in my system. 
1. cdrom -samsung
2. cdrw   -sony.
 (copying fedora 3 discs)

i want to copy from cdrom to writer.when i use 
xcdroast or directly 
cdrecord -v dev=0,1,0 /dev/scd0  
it is saying
--------------------------------------- 
Error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively ...
retrying in 1 second.
pregap1: -1
------------------------------------------
can anybody guide me.
even i tried with   dd if=/dev/scd0 of=cd_fedora_1.iso
(dd said Input/output error after it created the
image)
when i burn tht image then i did 
diff -r /mnt/cdrom(original_cd)   /mnt/cdrom1(copied) 

diff: /mnt/cdrom1/dosutils/autoboot/TRANS.TBL:
Input/output error
---------------------------------------
but the dd image cd is booting fine.
when gave media check on that copied cd it says test
failed.

can any body give some idea.
