"LUN appears to be stuck writing LBA=10h, retry in 0ms" kills my DVD+R...
Recently swapped a LG 4081B whose laser seemed dead (couldn't burn
or mount DVDs, but was able to write on both CD-R and CD-RWs) with
a cheap Samsung TS-H552 (DL, +R/RW, -R/RW, ...). This one usually
works but has already killed three DVD+Rs with the message in $subj;
full messages (the one I was able to paste from my console, likely
missing a few lines due to scrollback and copy-paste issues) follow.

It happened to me the other day with a DVD+RW, and sure enough
a new attempt at burning the same media right after an identical
failure worked just fine.
Question: is there any option I can specify to growisofs to make
it try for a longer period of time before giving up ? I'm asking
this since one of the other failed burns actually started writing
something - possibly saying something like
32768/4519313408 ( 0.0%) @<some>x, remaining <some_large_value>
and then choking with the "stuck" message. Also I'd expect maybe
a few iterations of the attempt - not quitting right away after a
dubious "retry in 0ms" message (though perhaps I misunderstood
what that actually means ;).
This is a K7-800, 256MB RAM, running up-to-date Fedora Core 3.
Thanks in advance for any insight - and please CC: me as I'm not
on the list...
