What do you think chances are of people upgrading to a version of
cdrecord which is non-GPL and grossly violates the terms of the GPL? As
you perpetually whinge about people not complying with clause blabla of
the GPL, violating the GPL yourself gives the impression that you don't
know what you're talking about.

cdrecord.c:
 * This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
 * it under the terms of the GNU General Public License
[plus see file cdrtools-2.01/COPYING in the source tar file]
 ...
 * You are not allowed to modify or remove the call to "linuxcheck()".
  ...
 * You are not allowed to modify or remove the following code.

each time followed by some really sad excuse of why you have to violate
the GPL.
