So that after media re-loaded unit fails to recognize newly recorded media? Wow! I would suggest to test another media brand. If problem persist over several brands, bring it up with your vendor and replace the unit.
When I put the DVD's into my Windows XP machine, the DVD's are readable (don't know about writing as I only have the 1 DVD-Writer).
This reminds me my personal recent experience. My unit broke another day and was not able to recognize CD-ROM nor CD-R blanks. All DVD+RW appeared blank, even recently recorded. The unit was apparently recording, as I could access newly recorded data in another DVD-ROM unit... A.
