OK, just opened wishlist bug #638965 against xserver-xorg-core.

Until this explicit override directory gets implemented and for
squeeze-backports (which needs newer versions of nvidia-graphics-drivers
for supporting newer GPUs), would you agree if I use modules/linux for now?
That way the first of the diversions can be eliminated and we can go
back to the other question "How to reorganize the mesa packages to avoid
diversions when installing a vendor libGL.so.1".
