+    Replace malloc(strlen()) + strcpy() with strdup()
+    
+    Now that we use malloc directly instead of xalloc, we can use
+    strdup directly too.

+    As an interim measure, replace AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE([dist-bzip2]) with
