Please send the whole output of
    /usr/share/doc/xserver-xorg/script 3>&1
so that we see your whole config and log. If X already restarted since
the crash, the log of the crash will have been moved to
/var/log/Xorg.0.log. There should be a backtrace of the crash at the end
of this log. Please include it too.

This is actually the same. If you choose "ati", it will load the
"radeon" submodule when you have a radeon board.

Could you try with xserver-xorg-core 1.3 and xserver-xorg-video-ati
6.6.192 (currently in experimental)? If it still crashes, it would be
good to install xserver-xorg-core-dbg and xserver-xorg-video-ati-dbg and
catch a nice debugging backtrace with gdb. An easy way to do that would
be to login from another machine with ssh, run "gdb -p $(pidof X)" in
this ssh before the crash, reproduce the crash, and then run "bt full"
in gdb.
