Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Severity: normal Hi there, most likely this is for the upstream developers, but they are at 4.4 and as far is I heard Sarge will never go there anyways. I use an IBM Thinkpad A20m. When I connect to an external display a clone doesn't work since the refresh rate is only 60hz, which is insufficiant for a CRT. With the option "nopanel_display" in XF86Config-4 as described in http://www.xfree86.org/current/ati5.html#16 the internal TFT of the laptop is switched off allowing for greater resolution and for higher refresh rates, which is much more important. When I disconnect the external CRT and restart the X server the internal display does not come back. Even if I power off the notebook completely and turn it back on the internal display remains blank on X. I have to comment out the option "nopanel_display" in XF86Config and restart the X server in order to get the internal display back on. This all does not apply to the console, which can be used without any problems and also reacts to Fn-F7 which switches between internal, external and display on both. Fn-F7 does not do anything in X. I am closing this bug since the submitter did not reply to the ping I send a couple weeks ago. If anybody ever reproduces this problem, feel free to reopen. Brice
