BUG REPORT
i just installed debian woody 3 and encountered the following
error:
after installing and logging in, i type din startx to start kde.
but instead of Opening kde, the following error message
occured:
xray :/home/sunshine#startx
(comment: 2 times) xauth: creating new authority file /root/.Xauthority
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc:
/usr/bin/X11/X : No such file or directory
same with: exec: /usr/bin/X11/X : cannot execute so such file or directory
giving up
apt-get install and remove xfree86-common didnt work either because the
newest version has been installed or remove said that it was extremely likely
that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that
package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation: Sorry, but the
following packages have unmet dependencies: ding: depends: tk.83 but is is
not going to be installed or wish E: Sorry, broken packages
since i tried to install it thousands of times right now im getting
exhausted in trying to resolve the problem.
also dpkg --configure xfree86-common reports the same with the added lines:
Errors were encountering while processing: xfree86-common i hope you can
help me finding out the problem and repair the broken parts of the package or
something. since i have to surf the web with lynx now, its extremely
uncomfortable. hope for your answer soon -Michael Maack
