Bug#235039: libxpm4 postinst runs bad 'grep' instance and stalls
Package: libxpm4
Version: 4.3.0-2
Severity: important
Hey there
libxpm4 appears to have a bad 'fgrep' in the postinst. Here's what it's
actually running:
root 17552 0.0 0.4 1540 404 pts/1 S 03:52 0:00 grep -F -qsvx /usr/X11R6/lib
It looks like 581 of libxpm4.postinst is the culprit, with the following
grep invocation: fgrep -qsvx "$dir" > "$ldsoconf.dpkg-tmp"
I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to be doing, so I'll refrain
from suggesting any solutions. I will note though, in case it isn't
really obvious, that there is no second non-option argument to grep -
it's likely waiting on STDIN, looking for the term "$dir" expands to.
