Have you customized your /etc/X11/xkb directory in some way? If you have not (to your knowledge), please reinstalling the xlibs package with the --force-confmiss and --force-confnew options passed to dpkg. This should be possible with the following command: apt-get --reinstall --option="DPkg::Options=--force-confmiss,--force-confnew" install xlibs Don't most French keyboards have 105 keys, anyway, so shouldn't the pc105 model be used? -- G.
