Hmmm, odd might be you're looking at the wrong file? :)
The log says /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I noticed (and never submitted a bug for it actually) that the
configuration scripts will always set ExplorerPS/2 even if answering
ImPS/2 at the prompt.
