Forwarding this to the web team (of which I also happen to be a member,
so I'll likely follow up as soon as I have time).

This happens every time I decide to try Linux. It's a complete
show-stopper. I just go back to MS-Windows.

1 - Google search for: debian live usb

The first hit is this: Debian -- Live install images

2 - I click the first hit's link and am taken here:

http://www.debian.org/CD/live/

3 - I see "Is a live image suitable for me?" I already know what a live
image is, but I read anyway. I read about 'Launcher' and 'Flavors' and
'Size'. I don't understand any of it. I think 'Flavors' is about various
desktops (i.e., GUIs). Way back when, I knew what X-Windows was and used
it at a client's site. I don't know anything about the desktop choices
and I don't understand why Linux has all these choices. I assume that
all this front-loading means that I can't change desktops after
installation.

4 - I see "CD/DVD/USB (via BitTorrent)". Below it, I click the 'amd64'
link. I'm taken here:

http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/bt-hybrid/

5 - On that page I'm presented with the following list:

debian-live-6.0.6-amd64-gnome-desktop.iso.torrent
debian-live-6.0.6-amd64-kde-desktop.iso.torrent
debian-live-6.0.6-amd64-lxde-desktop.iso.torrent
debian-live-6.0.6-amd64-rescue.iso.torrent
debian-live-6.0.6-amd64-standard.iso.torrent
debian-live-6.0.6-amd64-xfce-desktop.iso.torrent

What do I download? Can't I decide on desktop later? Why do all Linux
sites seem to talk around subjects without really saying anything?

Thanks for any help you can give - Mark.
