Bug#538827: Change search behaviour to allow other languages

Hello:

Moinmoin19 gives me the same problems than the regular. Does it search based on index?

Please, compare searches at

moinmoin:

guia del editor (search for text)

and google

site:wiki.debian.org guia del editor

As you would see, moinmoin is not reading the content if the new pages.

However, searching just for 'guia' in moinmoin19 doesn't redirect you to the page aforementioned in wiki.debian.org.

I sent the bugs to the package wiki.debian.org. Which is the one upstream?

Thanks, Omar

When you trigger a search at wiki.debian.org, by default, it searches for page's titles (URLs). This is only useful for English speakers, as the base pages are in English, and the translated pages have to follow the scheme concerning their URL address within the wiki

 base page: PackageManagement
 translated page: es/PackageManagement (for spanish)

Therefore, if I search for "gestión de paquetes" (the direct translation), it shows nothing, as it is a good practice to keep the original URL name (plus language code). Changing the default behaviour would be useful for wiki users that don't speak English.

I've noticed that search by text is still a bit weak, but little by little I guess it can be fixed :).

Hi,

Could you test this bug on the latest upstream version [1], the report
the bug upstream if appropriate.

Thanks you for spotting this bug,

Franklin
