russian pages, news section

Hello debian-www,

I would like to comment on the quality of russian pages on www.debian.org.
Currently, Nick Toris <nicktoris@gmail.com> is responsible for the translation.
I have contacted him and also Max Kosmach and mentioned the very low quality of
his translations, especially on the news pages.

Imagine that one used an automatic translator and then slightly polished the
result. It is almost impossible to read this because Nick tries to keep not
the meaning of the text but its entire english-style grammar (word order,
sentence structure, etc.). I understand that russian is so flexible that
almost any grammar can be imitated in it, but I am not sure this is the
purpose of translation.

I tried to explain some basic things to Nick, like that he should adapt his
texts to the common russian style of speach. I also offered my help in
proofreading (I am not a professional editor, however I do reviewing of
scientific papers, I have written a bunch of articles myself, etc., so that
I know what I am talking about).

The result of my efforts has yet to be known. Yesterday, Nick sent me a
slightly changed version of one of the pages. The changes were very minor.
He did not seem to understand what I was talking about, or, perhaps, he did
not want to understand.

I would like the community to be aware of this.
