Status of my work on packages.debian.org:
organisation:

- I've tried to make an alioth project for this but it was rejected,
and for good reasons. I had to learn that I would not have shell
access to a.d.o as a non-DD even when I am in a project. Since this
was one of my main reasons to request an alioth project, I'm not
too unhappy that it was rejected.
- I've started my NM process but have no AM assigned yet
packages pages:
---------------
- I've written some perl modules to load and handle the data from the
Packages files (including Translation files).
- I've modified the old pages.pl script to use the new data. There's
one page per package per distribution as before, but it now includes
information about all architectures. Translated pages are generated
where a translated description is available.
This both tasks are mostly finished by functionality
(but need further work in documentation and testing).
search_packages:
----------------
- I intend to write a new search packages solution, but It will take me
some time to investigate what's available and how much really needs to be
done. I'm open for suggestions and comments.
request for comment:

- I try to make my results online available, but 500 MByte don't fall
off the sky. I have enough space on some machines at the university
but I have to ask before. Perhaps tomorrow...

I made a random directory available there.
- The script needs much memory (200 to 300 MB for the
unstable distribution) and is slow (but my computer has only 256 MB
RAM, I can not really speak for swapless execution)
Should I try to optimize it mainly for speed or for memory?
- At the example pages you can see my solution for displaying the
dependencies for all the architectures. Please comment.
- The translated descriptions are stored in utf-8. Are there reasons
to convert them for the webpages? Or could handle the browers utf-8
well enough?
