Yes, I didn't mean anything technical.

Yes, but at the same time, it deprives the Japanese from reading their own
name in their own spelling. It's not too different from using ASCII-crippled
Latin 2 names, like many of my compatriots have to use. For example, Alen
Zekulic has an acute on the last letter of his surname, and it's quite
differently pronounced because of that. That is to say, "Zekulic" and
"Zekulić" would be two different names in Croatian. It would be technically
inappropriate to use the high-bit character in Maintainer: fields of
packages, but that still doesn't make it right.
