top level Debian web site mirrors

Short summary for debian-www readers: I've been trying to set up another
push-mirror for web pages, in .cz, but in the process I found out there may
be some policy changes regarding web mirrors, so read below if you're
interested.

We've had some discussions about the purpose of web site mirrors internally,
and concluded that we don't actually need a new push-mirror in Europe. In
fact, we could be disowning some of the existing 16 mirrors in the future...

The two primary reason for this sentiment are:

  * mirrors don't generate enough traffic to warrant often rsyncing
  * www.debian.org is close (network-wise) to most of the world, because
recently the global connectivity has been improving, a lot, enough to be
able to browse such a web site from anywhere, at decent speed

Point 1 is alterable because we could advertize them more, but it still
wouldn't help some of the sites. We can, however, list your site as "Czech
Republic" in the user-visible mirror menu on www.debian.org, even though it
may not be www.cz.debian.org. I'm going to do some rearrangements on the
site so that users are able to select a mirror on all pages.

Then, after some time, we could perhaps re-evaluate setting up some more
push-rsync mirrors, including yours. Sorry it didn't work out now :(

As for other mirrors, if any maintainers are reading: there's no repository
on master.debian.org anymore, and not all rsync passwords have been moved to
the new host, www-master.debian.org. If you wish to continue mirroring,
please contact us.
