note: An openSUSE package exists since quite some time. Nonetheless I believe xchroot would be ideal for a distribution like Debian.

Xchroot is a well-tried and known program to run X programs in a chroot. It features audio support (important for video, audioplayers, etc.) and various provisions for IPC like mounting /dev/shm, creating a dbus-session and all of what an exigent GUI program needs. It has an own provision to chroot as user and to create desktop links that will directly invoke xchroot with the respective root that the desired program lives in. This is especially useful for running programs like the Otter browser not being packaged for Debian yet or for running Wine32 programs from and amd64 root. Xchroot can also start a whole desktop session in a chroot container. Unlike systemd-nspawn it does not need to boot a whole system and can also be executed on a chroot established with debootstrap or a minimal chroot only containing the busybox package.

I believe xchroot is a must have for an amazing and comprehensive distro like Debian!

P.S.: It could also be good choice to support this program under the rescue console. Xchroot to your installation and run grub-install, ready!
