I'd like to see a version of this which is written in english (with no
non-alphabetic symbols with mathematical significance, such as "()>=-",
and with proper grammar).

I think I've almost got the language nailed down for the version I'm
proposing, but even if yours doesn't come out to be shorter and easier
to understand than mine, just seeing how somebody else expresses these
concepts can help.
