Indeed it does, Lee. Thanks. But I infer that you did not recognize that is the file (2) cited in the OP. And (as I just noted above in this thread) there's a lesson in that: this has been WAY over-complicated. As a Debian newbie I don't want to be critical, but do want to take lessons from this experience to help me do some cleanup when I have a bit more Debian under my belt. This distro is too good to hide its light (from newcomers) under a bushel. Regards, John
