The is no "hostname" service to start

Please, try:

sudo hostname "alex.chromebook"

and verify with

hostname

Else, reports here the content of /etc/resolv.conf/ and /etc/hosts

Also, i tried another way.

(precise)soyeomul@localhost:~$ cat /etc/hostname
alex.chromebook
(precise)soyeomul@localhost:~$ sudo service hostname restart
stop: Unknown job: hostname
start: Unknown job: hostname
(precise)soyeomul@localhost:~$

But failed.
