Exim4 tuning on Debian squeeze

Hello,

I have setup a Debian squeeze server as an SMTP relay server with the standard Debian Exim4 configured for STARTTLS and SMTP-AUTH. This SMTP server will be used for sending mails from a newsletter tool which sends one mail after the other to one single e-mail address.

Now with the default configuration of Exim4 on Debian sending 8 mails takes 56 seconds so in average 8 seconds per mail for a simple mail of a few kilobytes. Sending the same 8 mails through another mail server takes around 16 seconds in total.

Is there any ways to fine tune the default configuration of Exim4 on Debian in order to allow faster processing of the mails?

Many thanks in advance for any input or suggestions.

Regards,
M.L.
