You can make Gnome3-shell look as near as damn it like gnome2-shell
The only thing I haven't been able to do with 3 that i could do with 2 is right click
on an app in the drop down menu to put a short cut of the app either on the desktop or the panel.
And I haven't used any thing that wasn't in the debian repos.
You are stuck with it , it wont go away.
I hope the problem I had with gnome3-shell in fedora doesn't creep in to this distro.
