Ah! You're right :-O

I didn't notice we've been using the older version (2.30) all this time, 
maybe because gdm3 3.0.4 and 2.30.5 share a very similar UI and 
configuration options. 

But now you mention... the recent update that pulled gnome-shell also 
pulled this package. I remember I was asked by the updater routine if I 
wanted to keep the old configuration files or updating to the new ones.
