That's *not* aptitude's interactive resolver. That's "simulate" mode in aptitude. Aptitude's interactive resolver allows you to reject (deny) or accept (force) certain *parts* of a solution, refining your request, and then search for another solution that will not contain the parts you rejected and must contain the parts you accepted. It can be used in the CLI with the "r <action#>" or "a <action#>" answers to the "Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?] " prompt.
