Lenny or Squeeze?
If it's Lenny, try visiting http://www.wowway.com/~zlinuxman/tp600.htm
and see how I did it on my IBM ThinkPad 600.  Obviously it won't be
an exact match to your computer but maybe it will be close enough to
give you the right idea.
